The first of September is Wattle Day, a patriotic celebration of the Australian national identity.
We call on all patriotic citizens to wear a Wattle insignia on this day, to show their love of our nation. Indeed, why not wear a Wattle emblem for the whole first week of September? Although the event is Wattle Day, and not Wattle Week, it would nonetheless be worthwhile to keep the flag flying for some time (or to keep the Wattle flying, as the case may be).
We encourage Australians to buy a Wattle badge or a Wattle brooch, or even to make one of their own – this being done in preference to ripping Wattle off trees to use, as that would damage the Australian environment.
Celebrate your national cultural identity on Wattle Day, and encourage others to do the same.
