Nelson Mandela — Time for reflection

By Andrew Phillips, APP National Chairman

Following the death of the former leader of the African National Congress, Nelson Mandela, it is to be expected that we will witness the tidal wave of adulation mixed with grief, from the chardonnay-sipping elitists of the leafy suburbs and their fellow-travelers.

However, despite the slick media portrayal of Mandela which has elevated him to an almost god-like status amongst the liberal left, isn’t it time to pause and reflect upon the reality behind the manufactured image presented to the world?

We are led to believe Mandela was a freedom fighter who suffered 27 years in prison to bring about a free, tolerant, democratic “Rainbow Nation” — a man who sought only equality and reconciliation. An examination of the facts reveals many contradictions and misinformation.

Although acquitted following a trial for treason, Mandela was again arrested and tried for sabotage — a trial at which he willingly admitted his guilt. During the trial, it became clear Mandela had attempted to smuggle and manufacture a wide range of weaponry for his military wing — Umkhonto we Sizwe (Spear of the Nation). He was then later charged with 193 counts of terrorism connected with the attempt to import (mostly Soviet-bloc) munitions, including: 210,000 hand-grenades, 48,000 anti-personnel mines, 144 tons of ammonium-nitrate, 21.6 tons of aluminum powder, 1,500 timing devices and 2,000 lbs. of black gunpowder.

Throughout his famous speech at his Rivonia trial, Mandela admitted to forming the military wing but claimed the organisation was not there to kill innocent civilians. Indeed, he asserted that “I made it clear that if I formed the organization I would at all times subject it to the political guidance of the ANC and would not undertake any different form of activity from that contemplated without the consent of the ANC.”[1]
Mandela was making it quite clear that Umkhonto we Sizwe was not to carry out any activities without the consent of the ANC, and therefore Mandela himself, thus making it clear that Mandela was actually responsible for those acts of terrorism.

Before we continue to look at Mandela’s record, perhaps we could consider a definition of terrorism. Another darling of the liberal left, U.S President Barack Obama announced, following the Boston bombing, “Any time bombs are used to target innocent civilians, it is an act of terror”.[2]

In his much lauded biography “Long Walk to Freedom”, Mandela casually admitted that he personally signed off on the Church St bombings in Pretoria. This act of terror on May 20th 1983 resulted in 19 deaths and 217 wounded.

It is important to remember that in Mandela’s own words, the military wing was under complete control of the ANC and no activities were to be contemplated without the consent of the ANC leadership.

Bearing in mind the words from both President Obama and Mandela, consider the following list of Umkhonto we Sizwe’s achievements:
1981 – 2 car bombs at Durban showrooms
1983 – Church Street Bomb (killed 19, wounded 217)
1984 – Durban car bomb (killed 5, wounded 27)
1985-1987 – At least 150 landmines on farm roads (killed 125)
1985 – Amanzimtoti shopping centre bomb (killed 5 people, including 3 children)
1986 – Magoo’s Bar bomb (killed 3, wounded 69)
1986 – Newcastle Court bomb (wounded 24)
1987 – Johannesburg Court bomb (killed 3, wounded 10)
1987 – Wits command centre car bomb (killed 1, wounded 68)
1988 – Johannesburg video arcade (killed 1 unborn baby, wounded 10)
1988 – Roodepoort bank bomb (killed 4, wounded 18)
1988 – Pretoria Police housing unit, 2 bombs (wounded 3)
1988 – Magistrate’s Court bomb (killed 3)
1988 – Benoni Wimpy Bar bomb (killed 1, wounded 56)
1988 – Witbank shopping centre bomb (killed 2, wounded 42)
1988 – Ellis Park Rugby Stadium car bomb (killed 2, wounded 37)
Late 1980s – numerous Wimpy Restaurant bombs (killed many, wounded many)

Despite media misinformation which leads to ill informed people believing Mandela was gaoled for “opposing white minority rule” and “fighting racism”, it is clearly evident that Mandela was gaoled for the importation of large quantities of arms with the intent to harm innocent people — irrespective of race.

Furthermore, he continued his pursuit of violence during his incarceration – never renouncing the use of violence as a valid tool to gain power and terrorise his opponents. The penchant for terror continued in the townships, under the guidance of his wife Winnie, utilising the so-called “Mandela United Football Club” and dancing proudly declaring she “has the matches” to light the tyres for the act of “necklacing” — a practice involving petrol-soaked, flaming tyres put around the torso of opponents.

The far left and ill-informed may well mourn the loss of Mandela. However, for those of us who can see through the media hype, we take this time to remember his many victims and those scarred for life by the actions of his followers.

  1. Just to let you know we have been watching a man born and breed in the Republic of
South Africa who was allowed to come to Aussie back in the 1980’s when Bob the Yob
was the man. He is called Kolin Thumbadoo and he going to make his statement on
Harmony Day 21st March (the word Harmony sounds it is a throwback from the Hippie
era). Anyway, he wants drastic changes to take place. We saw the interview on the
ABC 24 after the funeral of Marxist Mandela. It would appear he has all of his Far Lefties
organizing themselves a bit like that strange gang in England, calling people that oppose
them names. It is time this was brought out the dark into the light!

  2. Just to let you know that we watched on ABC 24 the funeral for Marxist Mandela
and a man called Kolim Thumbadoo was interviewed. He is from the Republic of
South Africa and came to Aussie in the 1980′s when Bob the Yob was doing his
very Far Leftie Gig. He wants to make a lot of noise on Harmony Day 21st March.
(the word Harmony sounds like a throwback from the Hippie era). Anyway, he wants
Aussie to become like the Republic of South Africa and become a Republic.
You can see why Bob the Yob let this agitator settle in Aussie to further his very
nasty agenda he has for Aussie. We would gladly debate Bob the Yob any
day. He is still living off the Aussie Tax-payer. Does anyone know where his office
is in Sydney? I would like to ask him. Where was his Father when the The Battle for
Australia was raging? Time for Compensation Bob the Yob!!

  3. Yes, he certainly supported the IRA just like the likes of the Nazi Socialists and
Hitler did. They did a programme on Mandela how his supporters made
sure that the international media dropped the word “Terrorist Mandela” to make
him into a hero after his release from prison. I still refer to him as a Terrorist.
He also became very rich and enjoyed living in luxury. He even had his shirts
handmade. He became another “Industry of the Far Lefties”. You only have to
look at the country and violence that the people of South Africa have to suffer.
You only have to Google “The Death of Johannesburg” and see what chaos that
city is in. Also Google “Poor Whites in South Africa” and see how they all lost
their jobs and now live in poverty. We must think of a way to help these poor white
people? Some sort of charity, we could start for these poor white people?
The United Nations are too busy doing their “Far Leftie Gig” of rearranging the
world’s population to destroy the western world and make it into a basketcase.

  4. That they had to have a national mourning period of one week says something about the nation of South Africa. There are still lineups of people a mile long waiting to view his body! How nauseating.
Instead of dancing around, singing and endless bereavement, start rolling your sleeves up and at least try to make South Africa a productive, democratic and peaceful part of the world.
Mandela is gone…….get over it and stand on your own two feet.

  5. Yeh! People have short memories the man was a terrorist and a supporter of the IRA never mind the thousands of whites he was responsible for hacking up and killing. What a joke, the Nobel Peace Prize along with that Obama who was dropping thousands of bombs on Afganastan. Good ridence to bad rubbish along with that other waster Ghandi.
    Slange,
    Eddy.
