A slap on the wrist for a killer

How much of a jail sentence would you expect someone to get for murder?

About 25 years seems to be the standard expectation (although some may prefer that killers be locked behind bars for life, or be given a death sentence).

A recent case in the Northern Territory shows how far our legal system has gone off track. A 16-year-old teenager murdered a friend by stabbing him in the chest. The killer was only charged with manslaughter, and was then given a sentence of six years in prison (inclusive of the one year he has spent locked up whilst awaiting trial), with a parole period of two years and four months.

So the killer could be back on the streets in less time than it takes to do an Arts degree!

Think about it: If it was a friend the young thug stabbed to death, then it would be terrible to think what he is liable to do to those who aren’t his friends.

The murder occurred in the Aboriginal community of Bagot. This raises the distinct possibility that the murderer was an Aboriginal, and therefore one has to wonder if he received special treatment because of his race (a trend which has been increasing in recent years).

It can be expected that the do-gooders may point to the teenager’s personal problems as an excuse, citing the troubled thug’s history of substance abuse, self-harm, and suicidal tendencies, as well as his alleged Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). However, what that raises is the pressing question of whether the young thug is likely to reoffend if and when he is released in a few years’ time.

So, Mr. Killer (ADHD FASD PTSD) gets away with murder. With all those letters after his name, maybe he would be right at home in a university, where the do-gooder Leftists (BA MA PhD LLD) could closely associate with him, giving them a real taste of the street-level consequences of their “do-goodism”. No, just kidding, do-gooder Leftists never want to dirty their hands with the consequences of their actions; they’re quite happy for the ordinary workers in the poorer suburbs to get the rough end of the pineapple in that regard (because the Chardonnay Leftists actually despise poor workers and don’t give a damn about what happens to them).

Do-gooders love to release violent criminals onto our streets, even though doing so badly affects the community. It gives them a chance to pose before all of their other do-gooder friends, and engage in some virtue-signalling, even though their actions sabotage the peace of the wider community and have incredibly destructive effects. Do-gooders are the sanctimonious self-sabotaging scoundrels of our society.

When a murderer gets off with a slap on the wrist, due to the actions of the prosecutors (who didn’t try him for murder) and of the judiciary (who handed down a laughable sentence), then you know something is seriously wrong with our legal system.

It would be a massive task to overhaul our criminal justice system, but it is clearly obvious that it needs to be done.
