Introducing Queensland senate candidate Rick Heyward:

Born in Darwin, Rick Heyward (53), spent much of his childhood in New South Wales and Victoria, as his father was in the RAAF, and this meant being posted around to different parts of the country.

Rick left school in 1975 to follow in his father’s footsteps, also beginning a career in the armed services. Rick completed his trade as an aircraft electrician, and served in the Royal Australian Navy for four years.

Following his military service, Rick has worked extensively in the construction and mining industries, for such companies as Transbridge, Abigroup, Watkins Group, Henry and Walker, Emeco, Cooks Constructions, Eastcoast Development and Engineering, and Pybay Mining Services, amongst others.

He has been an operator, supervisor, safety adviser, and trainer, and has been a supervisor and manager of several civil projects. He is currently building a house, having previously built two others.

Rick is a very proud Australian, who is passionate about protecting his country, and hence was attracted to the Australian Protectionist Party. He is very concerned about the loss of property rights, and the threat posed to parts of Queensland’s environment from coal mining and coal seam gas fracking.

Rick has one son, who is currently serving in the RAAF.
